For the first time ever, the brand behind must-have products including Baby Lips and Great Lash picked some familiar faces to front its new mascara campaign. Beauty vloggers Manny Gutierrez and Shayla Mitchell were just announced as Maybelline’s newest partners for a series of fun videos for its new Big Shot Mascara by Colossal. Together, the duo has about 5.2 million followers combined on Instagram. But let us back up a bit.

Gutierrez, better known as MannyMUA733 on the Internet, is not only one of the first beauty influencers to team up with the company, he’s also the first man to. Yup, one of our favorite beauty boys is making history. And of course we can’t forget about Mitchell, who goes by Makeupshayla. She’s both powerful and beautiful, not to mention seriously talented. They’re perfect together.

In a statement, Manny Gutierrez said he is “thrilled to be able to work with a global brand like Maybelline New York that is recognizing male influencer talent and is willing to shine a spotlight on it.” And Maybelline New York isn’t the only company taking note of male beauty bloggers. Last October, Covergirl named James Charles as the first male CoverGirl. Plus, other cosmetic companies such as NYX, Milk Makeup, and Anastasia Beverly Hills have been incorporating male models in their beauty campaigns. However, they aren’t just in pictures as attractive props. Instead, the men are the ones with painted faces, too. We have a feeling more companies will be following suit. Let’s be real, traditional, hyper-masculine masculinity is being challenge every day. Let the latest chokers for men backlash stand as a perfect example.

The message for the new mascara campaign is quite fitting, too. “Lash like a boss” isn’t gender specific. It isn’t “girl boss” or “Lash like a lady.” Instead, the campaign is all about badass, bold lashes for everyone—no matter what gender you identify with. This theme will be featured in videos starring Gutierrez and Mitchell that will be posted on YouTube and Maybelline New York’s website. (The mascara can be bought there, too, for $8.49.) You can watch the first one below.
