Admit it: We all got a bit teary-eyed when in his final address as POTUS on Tuesday night, Barack Obama acknowledged his family—specifically, his two daughters Malia and Sasha Obama and their mom Michelle—for their grace under pressure during his eight years in office. Obama’s tribute to his girls, who have literally grown up in the White House, was particularly moving.
“Malia and Sasha, under the strangest of circumstances, you have become two amazing young women, smart and beautiful, but more importantly, kind and thoughtful and full of passion,” Obama said. “You wore the burden of years in the spotlight so easily. Of all that I’ve done in my life, I’m most proud to be your dad.”
But as we sobbed right along with Malia, who could be seen dabbing at her eyes in the front row next to her mom during the address, the world couldn’t help but wonder: Where is Sasha? Twitter, of course, had a lot of ideas:
Now, the morning after the speech, we have our answer. The youngest Obama was just back in Washington being the dedicated student that she is. You see, according to a White House official, Sasha, a 15-year-old high school sophomore, had a science exam today. And apparently, not even the First Daughter can get an excused absence from that.
Of course, we’d expect nothing less from the studious Sasha. Only now, she’s pretty much nullified every excuse any student ever has had for not studying for a test.
Best of luck on your exam, Sasha! The entire country is rooting for you.
