Prince Harry is a lucky man. Aside from the whole royalty thing, he’s got one hell of a talented girlfriend. Not only is Meghan Markle killer on screen as a badass paralegal on USA’s Suits, it turns out she’s also quite talented as a designer.
According to WWD, the actress and royal bae collaborated with Canadian retailer Reitman’s on an edgy capsule collection that launched last November. Markle’s monotone capsule for the retailer, which is similar to Zara in price and style, hits all the right all-black-everything, office-to-bar notes—more high-powered professional than princess. And no surprise, the products are nearly sold out online.
“The initial idea of developing a collection came from her,” Monique Brosseau, vice president of marketing and visual presentation at Reitman’s said in an interview with WWD. “It was an amazing idea so our designers, who are all based in Montreal, worked closely with her. She provided her vision and her ideas of what could be a work-to-weekend capsule collection.” The resulting collection is all edge—think faux leather leggings, corner office pencil skirts, a pulled together cashmere poncho, and slouchy-yet feminine shirts that will take you from the bar to brunch with your potential in-laws.
According to Brosseau, this is just the beginning of Markle’s foray into design—she also launched a successful dress collection with Reitman’s last April. “At the time, I can’t tell you what the projects are. I can’t unveil anything, but it has been a very, very positive collaboration. We are very pleased with it.”
If Markle’s current track record is any indication, she and Harry might one day be the next George and Amal over the next William and Kate. In addition to her successful run on Suits and budding design career, Markle is an advocate for women and girls around the world, serving as an ambassador for World Vision Canada and a United Nations Women Advocate. The 35-year-old kicked off 2017 by traveling through slum communities in Delhi and Mumbai to speak to women about the issues they face challenges with, including education, empowerment, and hygiene, according to People. Prince Harry is a lucky man indeed.
