In addition to beautiful harmonies and cool poses, most boy bands have “the blonde one”: The Backstreet Boys had Nick Carter, *NSYNC had Lance Bass, and One Direction had Niall Horan. But the band broke up a year ago (or they’re taking an “extended break”) leaving most of the 1D boys to work on their solo careers, and leaving Niall Horan to finally grow out his blonde locks. We are thrilled to announce that after a year-long transition, all traces of blonde have finally disappeared from Horan’s hair, and he’s now officially a bangin’ brunette.
Honestly, his Instagram, which culminates in his hair finally hitting peak brown-ness, really tells a hair color story. In photos circa January 2016, Horan’s hair was as blond as ever. By the time we hit March, his brown roots were starting to show. This summer, the brown roots were pretty dang prominent. Over the last few months, he’s basically been a brunette with blonde tips. And now, one year after 1D’s “break”, he’s a full-blown brown-haired boy.
Horan’s not the only One Directioner to grow out of his boy band hairstyle. Zayn, the first to leave the group to pursue a solo career, made headlines for chopping off his signature locks. Harry Styles grew his hair out to ponytail-length, only to chop it all off (for a movie role) and donate it to charity. After weathering all these 1D hairstyle change-ups, let’s just say we have high expectations for whatever Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson’s hairdressers have in store.
