While some octogenarians are taking it easy in their old age, 85-year-old professional model Carmen Dell’Orefice isn’t ready to retire. Dell’Orefice, who has been modeling for 70 years, closed the Guo Pei Spring Summer 2017 show in Paris Fashion Week on Wednesday — and she looked just as fierce as she did back in the 1940s.
Dell’Orefice appeared on no fewer than four Vogue covers during her storied career, with her first one back in 1946, and when she turned 85 last year, the fashion magazine celebrated with a collection of archival photos. “There’s nothing nostalgic about her look,” the article reads. “Orefice has changed with the time, making her not so much a classic beauty, but an iconic one.” Even though Dell’Orefice has more years of modeling experience than most, she epitomizes being “young at heart”—the 85-year-old model looks absolutely amazing on the daily, still works regularly, and even has a killer Facebook page.
Here she is absolutely owning the runway Guo Pei’s couture show.
And if you’re wondering what she looked like when she first started modeling at age 15 (15!) here are a few shots from her vintage Vogue days.
Carmen Dell’Orefice, may we all be as fierce as you when we hit our 80s.
